I've been searching the Dell Outlet for days for any reasonably priced M17x r2 with no luck. I will usually see a few every day but clicking on them only results in an error message. I've talked to Dell through their online chat, but they provide literally no help. Does anybody know what is going on, and is there anything I can do about it?

At the moment they show only 1 m17 and 1 m11x no m15's I have seen very little since Xmas so I would say they are out. Might be the R3's are coming and they are keeping inventory down or just plain out.

Ive just gone on it now and theres 2 up, both identical except from HDD speed (one 7200 other is 5200) with i7 920 processors, dual Ati cards, 8Gb ram, 320gb Hdd, Blu Ray drive.

$2,609 for the 7200 drive and $40 cheaper for the 5200 drive

Price is a limiting factor for me. I'm looking for any that are under $2,000. I've seen a few that have i7-720 processors and still high end GPUs (5870 Crossfire)
If I see it being tossed around into other customers' carts, can I call up Dell Outlet and see if they can pick it up in between switches?

I myself am also after one on a similar budget, but we shall see what happens in the coming weeks as i have some non techy stuff to sell on ebay.

This is a pretty dumb question, but I just want to make sure. When the M17x r3 comes out (Early/Mid-January), are the M17x r2 still going to be available for purchase on the Alienware website? And do you think the reduced prices will compete with the current Dell Outlet M17x r2 prices?

It depends if it is deffinatley released then or not.

Id go as far as to say the R2 will be available for a little while so they can clear stock, otherwise its bad business having shelves full of parts getting dusty, BUT they may just go full release with the R3, then make up as many R2s as possible and put them in the outlet.

Personally, id check the outlet a couple of times a day to see on the stock checker, aswell as keeping an eye on here and other tech websites to see if theres a deffinate R3 launch date, as that will be the time to look, as i expect the outlet R2s (as some will go on when the R3 goes on sale) will sell out fast!

Thanks for all the help! I was planning on using the Dell Outlet 15% of coupon, but I think I'm going to be better off waiting until Early/Mid January just to see how things with the M17x r3 turn out. Wish me luck!

Yeah, ive used the outlet for some desktops for work (Im incharge of computer buying and stuff) but there not exactly all singing all dancing, just run of the mill office comps. Never had a problem with outlet on that front at all so you should be fine.

As for the waiting i think its a sensible move, I know when you have money in your pocket and want something it gets tempting to blow it, but if you hole out a couple more weeks I think you should get alot more for your money. (Plus theres ALWAYS 15% off coupons from what ive seen so you should get abit more off too!)
