I think considering that's $200 cheaper for the complete base system, that you managed an *excelent* buy!

    congradulations!

Yep, plus tax. But shipping was free. I hope everything works alright out of the box since it's refurbished. Haven't had problems with buying refurb before but there's always a first. Knowing Dell's pretty decent in terms of support does make me feel a little better.

Oh so you had to pay tax separately? Still crazy deal. I paid about $500 more for a similar system with 920xm,8gb, and 128gb ssd. It's for my friend though. :)

Good deal man. I got the same exact laptop (mine is black) for $100 more from the outlet two weeks ago. Came with a 210 PS, which Dell replaced with a 240 PS via next business day. Run some benchmarks, when you get it. I am also curious about the cost of the 3 year warranty. Have fun :)

You are lucky. I could not find any R2 that has X-Fire 5870M and 1200p at the same time :( They have a ridiculous amount of 900p R2. Can't believe there are people order that

Edit: And I don't know why 9 times out of 10 only R1 show up when I check outlet store.

Lol guess I'm out of luck recently. I had an R2 ordered from Dell for half a month. It ran perfectly and I was very happy with it until I saw a deal on NBR Marketplace. I returned mine knowing that if I keep it, Dell will give me $150 discount just for keeping it. Then the deal fell thru after I sent the payment  So I was left with nothing. After that I contacted w/ another seller, deal was almost done but after I asked for his PayPal address, he did not response  Well I'm using a Gateway bought at BestBuy now but today I had placed another R2 from Dell. It's kinda annoying for me :(

I bought mine from the outlet too. $1277 pre-tax

I also got the 210w power supply, which won't charge the battery and won't let crossfire enable. There's apparently a replacement on the way.

-- Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium
-- Dual 1024MB CrossFireX, ATI Radeon HD 4870
    -- Processor: Intel Core i7-620M Processor 2.66GHz (3.33GHz Turbo Mode, 4MB Cache)
-- 17 inch UltraSharp WUXGA (1920x1200) RGB LED Display
-- 250 GB SATA II Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
    -- 125V Power Cord
    -- 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz (2 DIMMs)
    -- 9 Cell Primary Battery
-- Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth Module
    -- Notebook Keyboard
    -- 8X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability

Man...you guys made me wonder if I had a good deal too or not. Below is my spec for $1230 pre-tax:

    1200p (NOT LED)
    720QM (6MB cache)
    4gb RAM 1333Mhz
    320gb Raid0
    Crossfire HD4870
    DVD Burner
    240W power supply/charger ?

I'm kinda wonder if I got a short stick with the screen not being LED backlit. However, when I did the test it shows "RGB color"? I wonder how that works.

I throw in the 120gb Vertex-2 SSD drive ($189 @ newegg) and this thing runs even quicker!!!

Seems like you and iibbmm got pretty much the exact same deal. I mean the only difference being the RGB LED. I was never aware that Dell offered the R2 with a non RGBLED 1200p screen. I know that the R1's don't have them.

I also got an Intel G2 80GB ready to throw in when it arrives Monday...can't wait.

    Just a merely basic one:

    720QM
    4GB DDR3
    1200p RGB
    X-FireX 5870M
    250GB
    Intel 6300
    1 year CC

    :)

And I suck at hangling. Original price is $2,603 before taxes. I got it at $2,269 after taxes.

Seriously your comment is all I ever need. My brain keeps telling me that I have a poor system but I guess this forum spoiled me so much :D

I'm enjoying my $499 BestBuy Gateway NV59C. Seriously sometimes I just look at it and wonder if I ever need a multi-thousand $ laptop. This baby goes to sleep when I tell her to and wake up anytime I need her to. She's not flashy and bling bling but she's loyal to me. She's also quite and cool. What a baby...

I wish I had seen a system like your in outlet. Most of the time those system there have 920XM which I don't need and 900p display which is simply ridiculous.

Not going to get one of those ES XM chips on ebay? You can get the 920xm for really cheap these days, and you'd get an excuse to reapply some thermal paste. :D

If you can get a processor that normally costs $900+ for $400, that's how I define cheap. ;)

I think I saw a few going for less than $400. You should check as I'm not really up to date with the price.

I'm working on a 64GB SSD. That's my top priority now. Then it will be some more RAM if I find I need it. I'm not into XM CPU :D I just want to invest in GPU, display, SSD. Those are for game performance and I'm purely a gamer :D

I would recommend the Intel G2 if you're planning to store anything important. It is by far the most stable drive I've ever seen. Go /w the Sandforce otherwise. :)

Everything that I consider important I put it on various of online storage :D

But hey, you sir, are awesome! Based on the "Sandforce" keyword I found this one:

OWC 40GB Mercury Extreme Pro SSD For Just $99.99 | TechDaring – Latest Technology News

As long as it can be better than this one in M17x R2 I will surely opt for it. But then again, isn't R2 known for issues w/SSD? I rather go for a higher capacity then if R2 holds the OWC back.

That OWC looks so promising. Incredible speed and w/ Sandforce :D

    + rep!

I believe there's a solution out by now. I am not really up to date with the PM55 SSD troubleshoot thread.

That OWC ssd is a monster. I've heard only good things about it. Their over-provisioning tech gives you 7% more space compared to other 40gb's out there. That's def. a plus.
I think they raised the price to $109 + shipping. There's a seller at the marketplace who is selling his, still sealed, for $105 something. You should take a look. Great choice. :)

Alright, had to register since I just bought myself a M17x :) After reading this I'm not quite sure I got a good deal. Still hasn't ship yet so still have time to um...cancel :) What do you guys think?

    QX9300
    SLI 280
    8Gig 1333
    WUXGA
    BD/DVD-RW
    500Gig (256x2 SSD, RAID0)
    9 Cell Battery

Total $2400 with 20% discount. I'm thinking on canceling and waiting on a 5870x2 configuration and cheaper price.

Your system is a beast but...

    Well it's a big BUT:

    Lack of RGB LED :D

8GB RAM as well as SSD can be upgrade later. Go for i7, 5870M CFX and RGB LED first :)

I did various configurations, not sure how I missed the RGB LED screen as the screen is my first and foremost requirement. Been reading through the forums and I'm definitely missed it. But as Grimfan sated of himself, I'm old and my eyes aren't that good anymore so RGB shouldn't matter too much hahahaha

As for your suggestions, I've been keeping an eye out on the the I7 with 5870x2 but no dice for about a week now. When they do have it it's coupled with the low resolution screen and I can't bring myself to ever order one. Thanks.

Yea, I didn't realize it until I started reading the forums a few minutes ago. As Scook9 said, "The 2 main things are dual 5870s and the RGBLED." I'm going to have to cancel the order and just wait it out. The LCD is the most important for me.

As others have mentioned, you'll have to get a R2 if you want to get the RGB LED. It takes a while, but you'll eventually find one.

    I see the outlet has 17x R2s with i-920 processors. Are these 920XMs? I can't find any reference to just a 920.

    Thanks
