Like the title says, where have these systems gone? Ive scored a nice coupon to use but there are no R2's on the market.

They don't come and go that fast. 10 days ago, about 150 of them just disappeared. Suddenly, there were only Core2Duos. As a gauge as to how fast they disappear, there's been 100+ at the Outlet for the past month. A few come and go, but I follow it very closely, and all the core i7's were taken off.

It's been that way ever since. In between the Outlet not even working a few days this last week, and not having any i-series M17x's, there hasn't been much action by me at the Outlet!

Personally, I HATE (did I say HATE?) the new Outlet format. It wastes so much time. It's definitely a huge step backwards from how it was before. I waste so much time having to browse one PC at a time just to get the details I want, and the back and forth doesn't work, so I lose my sort options, etc. They say they're making improvements. So far, nothing but super slowness for days.

the i7 R2's disappeared just in time for the back to school outlet coupons, right when core 2 R1's started flooding the outlet and also made a 'surprise' availability comeback for new system purchases... :p

man they are flooding ebay weekly. all sellers now sell m17x refurbished. they remove parts such as SSD's and install cheaper drives to make profit. that's why you can never find what you want from a seller that has 5-10 m17x's because they mix up the components so that all laptops get sold. check it out and you'll see what i mean.

Yeah I would not buy from Ebay. I'll be too scared the system has been tweaked except if I was expecting to buy a used system...

As far as the return of the core 2 duo system. I also find that strange and I truly cannot explain it. It makes no sense to me in terms of marketing.

Just out of curiosity, do the Core2 units (R1?) even look like the current R2's or are they a different chassis?

Well, it's always good practice to be careful buying anything e-bay. But I did notice the flood of m17x's on e-bay. Was looking for a configuration I wanted, but didn't find it so I just bought one new.

Well, the Core i-series are back at the Outlet! 256 of them, and they are called M17x R2, to differentiate them from the M17x's.

The big problem? Of all 256 of them, the cheapest is $2159 (a meager Core i5, single 4870, 4GB). What a joke! The prices are skewed WAY HIGH!!! No one is going to pay those prices...

Well, no one ever pays for those prices anyways. They always wait for discount coupons.
