So he was supposed to replace my 3 fans, after taking it apart with no care and putting it back together..
    The network card doesn't work.
Only 1 graphics card shows up.
The Keyboard doesn't work properly and also the buttons on the top.

Now I guess they want it to be sent to depot even though they broke it!

Rock & a hard place. My friend sent his R3 for depot service to replace the 6990M, but it came back with a 6970M and a broken screen. And BTW, when I say broken, I mean BROKEN...as in the plexiglass was perfectly fine but the screen looked like some tried to skew it with a spear. Total spider web effect. How? I still can't figure it out to this day.
On the other hand, I've had the same issues with their tech contractors as you. He went to replace one thing and broke two others. I just don't know why Dell contracts out to such bad technical assistance firms.

Should have bought the fans and replaced them yourself. Some things are just easier to handle yourself versus dealing with a manufacturer.

sighs...i keep hearing stories like this over and over.

Call up dell and complain like crazy. Get some compensation for your headaches...unfortunately, most of the techs aren't alienware specialists. THey could have just worked on a lenovo and then they come over to your house and pull your alienware apart without being careful about it

He swapped out the mobo and gpu in my old r3 , everything went flawlessly.

Call them up and have them send another technician over. Never ever send it to the depot, that is asking for more trouble.

    that's the truth.

i remember reading a few times how someone sent in for a repair on their 1920x1080 screen, and it came back with the 1600x900 screen. Depot is the very last resort.

IIRC all Complete Care claims must go through Dell's depot, so you have no choice in that matter, it is where they assess whether it is worth repairing.

Agreed. They will push for Depot Service stating it is quicker (heh..), cost efficient (*snicker*), and more reliable (waHAAAHAAHAA!). I have yet to see any of these three qualities in Depot Service.

Yeah well paying for OOW stuff like motherboards, broken LCDs, and high end MXM GPUs is not always fun. I plan on upgrading my R2's warranty to 3 year on site with CC, I was quoted 762 online, I'm going to try to bargain it down.

Yeah mine is extended I don't remember how much it was total but I just pay like 15$ a month, I think it was around the same as you quoted maybe a bit less cause they said they'd give me a deal cause my 1st year was ending,
If my laptop isn't worth fixing would they give me an R3?

Just an update, I've sent my laptop to depot and it should be back tomorrow, and apparently they're sending me a tactx keyboard it just shows up in my order status as shipped but im going to try and get a tactx mouse too.

I find it kinda strange that it was only at depot for like a day and its fixed already though lol

Wow, new MB, GPU, fan+heatsink, keyboard, optical drive, and touchpad. Almost a whole new notebook. If it shows up in great condition after depot service...I'll eat my words.

How do you notice only 1 fan is loud? My CPU one is always on with my 920XM, the 5870M fans only start ramping up when I launch a game or it's under extreme load.

So a till broked in KFC ( PC with touch screen ), and our help desk send us an engeneer to fix it ( change the ram modules ), 50 yr old guy comes (30 years IN THE BUISNESS AS HE SAID LOL ), he needed my help to unplug this crap, he needed my help to dismantle the assembly, he needed my help to locate the ram, he needed my help to put this crap back together, i plugged it back.

    So beware ALIENWARE USERS

Those people, whatever they call them, ''engeneers'', when they will arrive and see your laptop, this is probably THE FIRST time they see an Alienware Laptop.

They know nothing about laptops, and they are most likely leave more mess when before their ''dismantling''.

    If you can

ASSIST THEM,OR REFUSE FURTHER WORK if they will start to make a phone calls to a friend with questions '' so i have this guy with alienware laptop, do you know from where to start to dimantle this thing''

in some cases you will end up with screwdriver in your RGB.

    INCOMPETENT IMBECILS !

Boy, that's not how I remember things. When working for Blockbuster (10 years ago, mind you) our local ITP guy (integrated technical & perhipherals) was the one who went around to the stores in our area to deal with all IT issues. HE WAS WICKEDLY GOOD AT HIS JOB! Seriously, I learned so much from him. Especially when he had me assist him with the register computer upgrades (upgraded from OLD IBM PS/2 Model 25's) at several of the stores. I will always remember George & the tech stuff he taught me.
