I have a issue with my m17x r4. My warranty expired on June 28th (doesn't Dell call to renew?) And two days after I started getting random freezes on the system with this in my event viewer:

Source: Kernel-Power Event ID 41 Level critical Task Category :(63)

This happened several time a day now. I called Dell to get tech support with the issue and they would not help me unless I paid for it. I even offered to pay to extend my warranty but they would not do it.

I get it I'm out of warranty they want money. I paid the 139 they asked to help me. It was not explained to me till after I aid for this that it did not include fixing the computer it was to only diagnostic the system.

After they could not figure out the issue they told me that I would have to send the system in for repair and would have to pay for it.

Thus I paid $139 for nothing and my laptop is still freezing up. I was hoping that one of the Alienware employees that roam these part could help or if any know how to fix this error would.

I'm at my wits end and am quite frustrated please help.

    Thanks

Restart the computer and hit F12 when the Bios loading screen is up. Choose Dell diagnostics and run those, let us know what they come up with. Alienware will not phone you to ask you to buy more warranty that's all on you and now that your system is not working I am not surprised that they won't sell you more warranty.

Have you tried a reload of the OS? might be worth a shot if nothing else is working. Possible hard drive failure? Hopefully the dell diagnostics will find that but if not I think seagate makes a fairly good drive diagnostics tool.

Your sig says you have few more AW machines availible - try hookin up your 17 with power brick from aw18 to see if that solves problems.

I'd also suggest this. All of the PSU's are interchangeable. If that does not work, it's a long shot, but it could be a more serious issue.

Batteries aren't covered under the Limited Hardware Warranty that your system comes with. Even if you had warranty, if it has been more than a year, you probably wouldn't get another. I'm sure some representatives do make exceptions from time to time, though. You never know. It's not like they physically cannot dispatch a replacement to you. They're just not supposed to.

I think psu is under notebook warranty, only battery has like 6 or 12 months.

His warranty is expired. Doesn't matter either way.

That's true. It does look like a power source issue based on the op description.

That's what I was worried about. Hopefully Alienware will take care of everything. Good luck.
