I talked to Dell's parts department today and asked if i can upgrade my graphics card from AMD 6970, and upgrade it to the new AMD 6990. I have only had my system for 32 days, so i am out of my 21 day return window. They told me that there is no way to return my system or even pay a restock or exchange fee. I figure my only other option is to purchase the 6990 outright. Right? Well apparently that is wrong. The parts department tells me that there is no way to purchase the card and install it in my system. They say that it is incompatible with my current system. WTH!! I also want to put in the new Killer Wireless-N 1103 networking card. Guess what! They also tell me that it is incompatible as well. Currently I have the intel 6300 card. Has anyone else been told different? Can someone tell me why my system would be incompatible after only 32 days? Im kinda pissed off now!

Dell customer service has no limits to their idiocy. Just call back and get a less retarded rep.

Has anyone got the price for the 6990m card alone? Will Dell take back my 6970 and charge me a small fee for the new card? Or will I have to pay full price for the new card?

It's probably the bios. Kind of a pain lately if you ask me.

Some reps are illiterate and rude. I once had a rep who hung up the phone on me when he did not know how to answer my question.

Did you get his name? Just email dell and say you had an extremely rude support and you are severely displeased with their customer service.

Thanks Insightful! I will try back again tomorrow. I am subscribed to your other thread too. If you get your situation figured out, try and remember who helped you and their extension #. That would be awesome. Do you happen to know if the wireless cards can be upgraded as well? I have the Intel wireless n ultimate 6300 but i want the new killer 1103.

Anything not saudered to the motherboard can be upgraded. I got a guy named Fernando and Oscar that was really helpful. Ask for them if you can, other then that I believe you can.

It might cost some to upgrade but try them.
