I'm almost positive that you'll be getting 5870's, since I can't imagine they have much "old" stock lying around. But I personally don't have any experience with them...but good luck :)

15% faster than stock 4870's I would assume. I got a 15200 GPU score in 3dmark Vantage using the AMD 11.6 drivers with no overclock or anything on the GPU's. Hopefully that helps you gauge the performance increase. Enjoy!

Not to mention you get HW DirectX 11...which is a bonus on top of the performance improvement (I say any performance improvement is still an improvement...especially if its free :D ).

    Good luck to you!

Dell will do their best to get your original configuration, if they can't they will get something comparable...or better.

I highly doubt that they have 4870's in stock now. If they still have 4870's, you can always ask them for a price quote to upgrade to 5870's

yes, I'd agree...if you are interested you can almost upgrade to 6970's for that price (a bit more, but significant performance improvement over the 4870's and 5870's). Just something to think about if you are considering an upgrade.

So what did you end up with in the end? Did they offer you the upgrade to 5870s?

Would anyone know how long till the 4870s run out?

Sweet! Just keep us posted on what they send, usually it'll be next day shipping. Didnt you ask them what they might send?

I seriously want to get rid of my 4870s, nothings wrong with them though LOL.

I thought about getting them, but seeing as i had 2 and a half years of warranty left, thought id find ways of upgrading without voiding my warranty. Although i have done pretty much everything with it, except for dry ice cooling, LOL. Thats why i wanted dell to replace them themselves.

Maybe the 6970s later on, down the road.

Damn, crushed my hopes lol. Nah, I wouldn't buy them unless my warranty is over, or near over. Purchase it elsewhere and install them if you really want to.
Still might be a chance of having the 5870s

Well, the one benefit from ordering from Dell is that you have 90 days, or the rest of your system warranty on the video card.
