Hey, I'm a little bit worried and disappointed with myself, ordered a decked out Alienware 17 which came to about £2600. Id read every single benchmark and review going as I needed a direct desktop replacement for my 5930k and GTX 1080. After ordering I checked out this forum to see if there were any tweaks I should know when I get it like undervolting, then I saw a post about the 8th gen series. Now it looks like that is right around the corner and now I feel stupid for not hanging on. I need all the performance I can get so that's really been quite the kick especially seeing 6 cores. Where do I stand with this would Dell be able to replace the CPU? Would they be able to send a replacement? Am I stuck? I'm really not sure if I should just cancel my order, or what Dell support would do in this situation. Anyone have any advice?

I'd cancel just to see whats up, then order when people can get their hands on it.

Seems like a win win to me.

    1. Wait for improved potential 6 core variant but then keep in mind you might feel jaded for not again waiting for Ampere (nvidias replacement for Pascal) in some other refresh maybe later this year.

    2. Decide that laptop isnt worth it and get the R4 for potentially reduced price.

This is of course if you have the luxury of being able to wait, if you need this laptop for something like work then I would just stick with what you ordered because time is money.

My only concern is there have been a slew of QC issues on the R4 and with a 6 core processor these issues would only be exceptionally pronounced. If they can remedy that then it would be much more interesting a product.
