My M17x comes with 6gb of 1333Mhz ram, I'm going to be purchasing 8gb of 1866Mhz ram from Kingston. Is it possible to keep 4gb of 1333Mhz ram, and add the 8gb of 1866Mhz ram? Will this cause a problem?

It wont cause a problem, but all of your ram will run at 1333MHz. So no point in spending the huge amount of cash on 1866mhz memory if you keep in the old stuff.
