I just got another replacement R3 today and I noticed that the sound that the optical drive makes is different than the 4 other R3s that I have had. I wanted to know if I should tell the rep that is supposed to call me tomorrow about this, or is this nothing to be worried about and I'm just crazy? :D

The recordings are quiet, so you might need to turn your volume up to hear it.

    Thank you! :D

Isn't the current one quieter/better? Is the current drive the same model or a different model?

I guess it is better being a little quieter. :) How would I see if they are the same model or different?

Do you still have access to the other notebook? You can check in Device Manager.

They both show up as a HL-DT-ST DVDRWBD CA30N. I wonder why all the other R3s sounded the same but this one is different?
