Hi all. With over a week into M17x Thread, i slowly get a feeling that AW would not survive more than 6 months without any cooling/retention mods and other crazy stuff.

Honestly, when i read those threads i can feel that dell is implementing flaws on purpose and final users have to deal with it, often loosing warranty.

    50 threads describing cooling mods
    40 threads about bios issues/mods
    30 about endless hardware conflicts/alienhead logo/battery etc.

i am aware of that this is a forum and people do have problems/questions according to AW brand..with 99% of them describing hardware issues :(

    So my question is:

Will i regret of i just swaped MSI GX740 for M17xR2 (it will ship next week btw) ??
Will i survive with "PLAIN" m17x without thinking of my gpu just reached 100'C ??

I dont want to say it is a bad laptop....NO...it is a nice piece of art...BUT why it has so many "extra" build in flaws ?
I have to fix it by my self and loose warranty or RMA it every 3 months ?

Guyz, friends, If you can, please explain me all those things as i really want to stick to AW family without any regrets :D

Thanks to everybody in advance :)

tbh ive had my r3 for a week now

and my gpu never gets above 70c, the moment it gets there the fans kick in and knock it straight back down lol.

cpu stays around 50 ish tops

only thing that doesnt seem to work is the swap to the intel gpu but heh i dont use it anyways so i dont care, prolly an easy fix for it.

im not sure about the r2 as i dont own one but afaik alienware laptops are suposed to have superior cooling. Most ppl on the forums here mess about with overclocking tho wich could be some of those threads covered.

Max GPU temp has been 78 Celsius. Thats well within reason. I have yet to find any reason to Mod anything. System been running perfect out of box fora while now.

Okay... i HAVE an r2 and i do not have a cooling mod and i don't need one. My R2 temps never reach 90 celcius when gaming and i have crossfire. So far my r2 is problem free. R2-one year and three months old. RELAX DUDE!

No problem here either. Been running 5870's on stock paste since day one. Then i swapped cpu, the repaste was a natural thing to happend, then swapped video cards, also here the repaste was becouse of the new hardware. Otherwise my temperatures didn't require a repaste. I'm also one of the many problem free alienware owner.

    Relax and enjoy your rig.
