There is a little black dot on my screen that wont go away so its not dirt. I can barely see it if im 1 meter away from my screen. I think its a dead pixel or are they supposed to be white on a black background cause this dot dissapear when i use a black background.

Might be a stuck pixel. There are diagnostics or tools to help unstick it. Might want to give that a quick search on the forum or google it. "stuck pixel"

Black Pixels are Dead Pixels if you see them on a White Background, if you have White Pixels or any other Color, it's stuck and you can refresh it with this web-based java app:

JScreenFix - Fix stuck pixels and screen burn-in

Also i have on or two aswell, but with all the dust in my appartment and my very, very bad eyesight, if i don't observe the pixel and it's not right in the middle, you should not care for it. In games or watching movies, you will notice the black ones anyway much less, if at all, than the stuck pixels.

If it bothers you, call Dell.

Thanks is a dead pixel then since it black its not really in the middle and its not big at all and barely see it in games or when i watch a movie. Ill just leave it and if it gets worse il call dell.

I'm surprised you can spot a dead pixel during normal use assuming your resolution is WUXGA. I had a dead pixel on center of my screen, but it was impossible to see it unless I was like 2-3 inches away from the screen.

The best way fix a stuck pixel is to massage over it, but that's impossible with the e2e plexiglass surface. :(

Oh, since we are more or less talking about it, can RGBLED burn in aswell as my old XPS CCFL display did after like 3 years of usage? I had it when i was running games with a static UI for a long time or the windows task bar burned in? I had to run JPixelFix alot over night...

Yeah, they are more like mosquito bites, sometimes you notice and sometimes you don't, if you don't scratch (stare at it), it does no harm either, the simple way said :D

Of course if you have atleast 3-5 all over the place or in clusters (for example a big dead pixel 2x2), i would call for replacement, though i've read once, alienware has a zero dead pixel policy. But that might vary anyway from country to country. Hmm, there might be even an international standard for lcd displays for that. If someone wants a clear answer, call your local dell support.

well me too have dead pixel on the lower left side but i would feel silly if i call dell regarding this. its toooooooo tiny that i didnt notice it untill i saw this thread and ventured into a deep scan(already did a scan when i got the system yest). not at all bothersome. like looking at a dim star, take ur eyes off and u start searching for it again.
