If so, what are your settings?
I thought the Nvidia GTX 675m would be able to handle all the graphics settings at max and 1920x1080 but my machine struggles![]()
Wondering if my machine has issues or maybe GTX 675m isn't living up to the hype?

Are you sure you are running the game with the 675m?

Thanks Luis! I'll have to check that out.
I bought this laptop specifically to play Sims 3, it comes highly recommended on the Sims 3 board.
I'm glad I came here for help, there are no Alienware techs at all on the Sims 3 board! -

My gf has the exact same specs as mine but the sims 3 runs at 20-30 fps maxed on a 680 which i believe is around 30% faster than your card.
Turning down the edge smoothing helped it remain 30-40's but it's still pretty low.
End of the day its a bull game, it's clearly not coded very well. CPU pretty much idles the whole time whilst playing it.
Forgot to add turning high detail lots to a lower setting should up the frame rate too (Setting the value at 1 makes only the current building render in high res). -
Thanks, I made sure the Nvidia software was using the 675m for Sims Launcher and maxed out settings at 1080p ran at best 14-15fps.
I turned down a mix of settings to get 30+ fps at 1080p.
I ordered the 675m over the ATI HD 7970M because it costed more, so I thought it was an "upgrade."
I also heard that Nvidia graphics switching is better than ATI's graphics switching.
Thinking now I should've gone w/the ATI and saved $50. -
I had similar issues to you, except my card is the gtx 680m I was getting 30fps max with the settings in the sims at maximum. If you disable edge smoothing and force some optimisation settings in the nvidia control panel specifically for sims 3 it will bring it up, I get over 100-200 fps on the sims with everything at maximum except the AA which is off at the moment.
Make sure your running the latest nvidia drivers 310.70 and force your own graphics settings in the nvdidia control panel for the sims 3. -

Yeah, the 7970 is actually more powerful.

I used to run The Sims on a geforce m8600GT, granted not maxed settings but I never had many issues so the 675m should have no problems I would think. Like the previous posts I would double check your drivers and make sure you are indeed running on the 675
hope you find the problem.

Do you have a link for the settings in nvidia control panel? -
-
That's exactly how it looks on mine, Sims3Launcher.exe is set to use the 675m. What are your 3D settings? Mine are set to default.
So, do the setting in the Nvidia Control panel have priority or do the settings in Sims 3 have priority? -
How good is ATI's graphics switching compared to Nvidia's?
-
You can choose between application settings or your own settings, it depends how you define it in the global setting tab of the same page of settings.
Try forcing AA off with the nvidia control panel for the sims 3, my gtx 680m had performance issues when it was on the maximum in game, just turn them both off and it should give you the boost hopefully.
Mind you I still get loading lags as I scroll across the map and as the game loads, not much I can do about it since I already have it installed on the SSD as well. -

Awful.

That's good to hear, in a way. At least I know I don't have to spend anymore money to get smooth PS3 like graphics on this game. It sounds like Sims 3 just needs to be rebuilt from the ground up to be more efficient.
Do you have Nvidia GTX 675M & play Sims 3?
