If they don't have the correct parts I would expect them to call you and explain their next course of action. I doubt they would just send you a new machine with inferior specs without at least talking to you first. ;)

Yes if Alienware doesn't have part, and can't get a current ETA or it is severely backordered, they will contact you about a replacement unit. You should be offered an M18x, if you had a fully loaded R2.

I do not have a fully loaded M17X R2 :'c I have a 1440x900 screen, and the I7 740 cpu, but I do have two 5870m, Hopefully they do have parts if not I want a M18X because of the dual videocards.

Well my laptop is coming home from the depot, I am not sure what they did. The shipping box weights about 2lbs and the M17X R2 with powerbrick weights 12lbs right, fed ex says the box is 18lbs, error?

Well, it's not maxed out, but you still have a dual card system. That should be enough to nudge you over to a not fully loaded, but still pretty good m18x if there's ever an issue with inventory.

Also, to fully check what they might have done, download
    CPU-Z here
    http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

    and GPU-Z here
    http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

Check and compare to other owners and you should be able to find out your hardware specs.

My R2 with the original box + extra battery was 24 pounds according to Fedex. R2 weighs 12.8 pounds + 2.5 for AC adapter.

Oh ok, but its not orginal box or any extras just Laptop, and powerbrick, just did math everything seems ok, just seemed a little heavy.

Also is the only way to find out what they replaced or did to fix my computer is when I get it. Will there be a sheet in there telling me what they did? and if they did anything like 740, to a higher end I7 would they have called me. I'm sure they would call about a downgrade.
