Perfect, thank you. Also, can you confirm if the touch pad is capable of multitouch? I've read that it's not, and I've read that it is, but it's not set to multitouch out of the box. Are there settings that let you set it to multitouch?

For M17xR3 with AMD, install the AMD Display Driver first.

Once done, the Intel Driver must be installed when in Integrated Mode. You will need to use the FN+F7 to switch over to Intel. A reboot may be necessary.

After reboot, install the Intel HD driver.

Once installed, switch back over to your AMD GPU.

Has someone tried this with the 11.4 Catalysts? FN+F7 didn't work for me after removing the Dell AMD driver.

What's the purpose of the 11.4 driver? Better performance?

Ok cool, wonder why it didn't work for me. When I switched to 11.4 and did what Batboy outlined, FN+F7 stopped working completely.

    Yup.

On a clean install, after installing the AMD driver, you have to switch over using FN+F7 (a reboot prompt will appear - accept it) - this will put you into iGPU but since its a clean install it will be running the standard VGA driver.

Once back at the desktop, install the Intel HD Display driver from the dell support site. Switch back with FN+F7 (another reboot prompt) and once back at the desktop you will be running on the discrete GPU. FN+F7 will now work correctly (a reboot will still be needed when switching).

I think the difference was mine was not a clean install and I simply uninstalled the Dell AMD driver. Otherwise I did what you mention and it killed FN+F7 (the prompt would come up but nothing would happen).

I did not realize that it was necessary to perform a reboot after each switch between IGP and ATI. That's kind of a drag ...

My understanding from previous posts is that this is required by the switch combo. There may be a way to bypass it but you'll need to dig into the driver INF and see if there are any areas which may be relevant.

    C'mon, a reboot doesn't take that long ;)

No, a reboot is not necessary with FN+F7. It does it on the fly and that is precisely why I brought up the fact that it stopped working once I uninstalled the AMD dell driver. It worked only after I restored the system's factory image and installed 11.4 on top of the Dell driver.

However, Batboys method for initial installation should work fine even after a reformat since Inap says it does for him (FN+F7 on the fly).

You're right, I guess I can really justify an SSD for my boot drive now! :D

Darn, just when I thought I was going to get an SSD!

If FN+F7 is working on the fly with the AMD reference driver, then its an INF switch. It more than likely can be bypassed with the dell driver. We saw the same thing with NV on the R1.

Is this just a reboot during the drivers installation process, or do you mean every time afterwards? Cuz stock it doesnt reboot, it just blinks the screen a couple times then switches.
