    Well,
I'm thinking on buying a 27" LED monitor to use at home on my M17x, but as my experience using my laptop on my TV it always requires for me to hit the FN key + (display changer key) for me to be able to disable laptop's display.

my question is, is it possible to auto-disable the laptop´s screen while using the external display? having to hit the FN+F7 every time I startup/reboot my system is annoying me.

    it saves your configuration.
at boot-up the m17x-screen and my external device shows the windows loading screen and so on but once u are fully into windows7 it remembers your config and disables the m17x-screen.

Mine also shuts off the laptop screen if the lid is closed (and power settings changed to "do Nothing" if lid is closed & Plugged in). If the lid is up then both screens are on & identical (but you can modify that to extend screens etc. - just like it has been for many years).

Mine doesn't save my config, it just starts with the image cloned in both displays...

My R2 will startup with both screens active but once it gets past the BIOS screen, the laptop screen goes black (I have the gui boot disabled). I keep the lid open because it runs cooler that way. it worked the same way using both the mini-DP adapter (whatever it was, i forget offhand) and using the HDMI port (what I use now).

If I unplug the HDMI, the laptop screen auto-turns on. When I plug the HDMI cable back in, it goes dark and the external monitor lights up. I tested this and it's worked flawlessly from day one.

    Monitor is a Dell 2407.

I use a HDMI 20" dell display and it does save it. I like it when i am at my desk and i am playing fall out. I never used VGA or Display port

I use the Alienware OptX AW2210. Though, I'm a bit disappointed. The contrast between the matte screen on the OptX vs the high gloss of the laptop's 17" screen is very stark. For blu ray, this is kind of nice, as the OptX gives that warmer, film-grain tone. But for games, web browsing and other animation, I think I prefer the high gloss of the laptop screen instead.
