I bought my daughter an Alienware m11x to take to college. Of course that was a completely differnt design but the keyboard rubbed a permanent outline of the keys on the screen. I just wanted to make sure the M17x doesn't do that. I can buy a screen protector if I have to but I don't really like them.

I'm not talking about marks that wipe off with a cloth. I'm trying to make sure it doesn't actually rub "foggy" spots for each key on the screen like the one I bought for my college girl.

The keyboard does have contact with screen.

Try using a screen protector, or when u close your laptop down, put on a rubber/silicon keyboard cover, so if it touches the screen , it wont damage it.

Yup, it sure does. I use a sheet of paper to seperate the screen and the keys. Cheap, but effective haha.

Well that's a little disappointing. I'm not going to fall apart or anything but here I am bragging about the best laptop I ever bought and the engineers never bothered to make sure the keyboard clears the screen. One would think that this was considered and dealt with on the first laptop ever made in the history of mankind and everyone just followed suit after that.

I can just find a piece of thin cloth or something to toss over the keyboard before I close it for the day and take it home, I guess. :(

yea, one would think they would have such small issues solved considering its reputation and good standard gear...

But i dont mind carrying an extra thin cover.

I usually have issues when My machine is in my backpack, but if Its on my desk and I close it It doesn't leave marks. this is my temporary fix for it, and though I still have to wipe the screen off every once in a while, it does a pretty good job. :)
