I noticed that early incarnations of the M17x supported Crossfire ATI cards, however on the Dell site... they only offer single card setups.

Is it possible to install two cards yourself, or does the system only support one card now?

the m17x-r3 is only a single card system. If you want a system with dual cards, get the m18x ;)

Only one card slot in the new R3. The dual card solution is now the M18x.

R1 and R2 were dual card systems. Then came the 18x as the new dual card system. Dell axed the 15x and introduced the 14x and 17x R3. Also added the 11 to boost sales by appealing to a larger audience.
