    I'd assume not but why in the world are you using the 8970M in the M17x R4 when it is a rebrand of a supported 7970M?

    No game will ever utilize 100% of the available vRAM in either the 780M or the 8970M at 1080p. There may be some 3D rendering or CAD programs that will, but these cards are designed for gaming, not design. The most I've ever seen utilized on the 780M was like 3GB's in Crysis 3. The idea of the 880M and 880MX having 8GB's of vRAM is ridiculous, especially if they still plan to have 1080p screens.
