    Hello.
Last night, my old M15X died. After talking to dell tech support, they confirmed the motherboard was the issue. So I got hold of my dad's M17X R1 (3 years old). And as soon as I take it, I see it has an old bios and proceed to update it. After the flashing, I got a message saying that I got a unsupported power supply and now the keyboard has completely gone bad, it has a 1second delay on presses. I have 20 mins writing this . The programs open normally but keyboard has this obnoxious lag and touchpad is not working at all. The keyboard issue remains even in the BIOS.
Dell says its a damaged MOBO, and I just cant believe it, since everything was perfect before the flash,

Does anyone have any info regarding this problem?
(I already did a power drain and cmos reset)
(also, fans now go full throttle for almost 5 seconds before the POSTshows up, before the flash it was only 1 sec).

Hmm...only option i see here is to reflash the same bios version or flash back to the older version......you did make a back-up didn't you?

Well im depressed so, dont expect a long update post.
Rolled back rhe bios with my backup. Keyboard and touchpad still unfunctional, and now system doest re ognize the 260m, back to integrated gfx.

Basically what ive been able to find, and told by dell tech support, is that, i got my keyboard AND touchpad damaged by an unknown reason. Since both systems are out of warranty im ed to heaven and beyond. All i have left its an M15x corpse and a m17x R1 withough keyboard and touchpad. Dont know what else to do, both pcs damaged the same weekend, with just 3 y/o.
Im the saddest person in the workd atm.....

Try taking the battery out and running only on the wall power. I had this problem and it's why I threw my battery out and have been running perfectly without it for 8 months. I used a power adapter that didn't provide enough power to the m17x, it was from an HP or something, because mine was broken and I was out of the country.

That said, I sent you a pm since I'm hunting for broken or barebones systems.

Tried using the m15x psu. Got a couple of loud beeps telling me that the stealth mode was enabled and keyboard lag persists. Touchpad not working either.

I had a similar issue some years ago in my m17x r1 and after a while and several teardowns I noticed that the touchpad ribbon was broken and some wires were making contact with the case. I changed the palm rest and the keyboard and touchpad lag was gone.

Not to mention that the r1 is famous for its faulty and imprecise touchpad.

Very odd to start coming in after a bios flash though :s You are certain you are using the right files?

Update: after a clean format and installation, everything is the same, no keybosrd no touchpad. But now, the wifi card is not working. Well it works but after a couple of minutes of not being ableto connect to anything, it turns off itself. Aparently its a power saving config issue and will try to repair it asap.

I think it might be possesed with belzebu.
