    Hi,
I'm loving my M17x! I've only had it for a few weeks but very impressed!! I'm been playing Left4Dead 2 on max settings and it looks/plays great. Crysis Warhead is also looking good and playing well.
I originally got Doom3 about 4/5 years ago but my PC couldn't play it very well as it wasn't powerful enough. I thought it was time to play it again on max settings.

The problem is that it won't go full screen. It has black box around it. Also it doesn't play 100% smooth. I thought I would get this playing at full everything. Can anyone help?
    Cheers,
    Russ :)

Edit the following settings of the Doom 3 cfg (DoomConfig) file:

    r_customwidth to 1920, r_customheight to 1200, r_mode to -1, and r_aspectratio to 2

I assume you are absolutely sure that you are playing in CrossFire mode/ out of stealth more?

Thanks for the response. Sorry I'm useless on computers. I'm slowly getting better. Where do I find the the Doom 3 cfg (DoomConfig) file? I downloaded via Steam.
    Many thanks!!!
    Russ

Oh Steam. Well Russ, have a look at the following link. They discuss in detail how to get the resolution working in Steam. Since it depends largely on your setup, I think you should give their suggestions a go. It's basically the same thing I posted above but specifically for Steam.

Read it up, try it, and if you still can't get it working post again here. Then we can pin down the problem further after we know what you tried already.

Yup, one of my all time favorites. I had the disk, lost it, and then missed the Steam sale a few weeks ago. They had the Complete Doom Collection for like $12 or $13...

Speaking of Quake, man it would be sweet if Steam had Quake 4. I just don't have any games that are not on Steam. Their system is just too convenient for me to go somewhere else for my gaming needs...

Funny I've considered loading it back up and playing through it again, for the very same reasons posted above. Now I'm thinking I will do that very thing. Thanks everyone ;)

I can appreciate loading up an “older” game and trying out. Especially when you remember playing years ago when the best system wouldn’t run it properly.

I loaded up Ultima 9 recently. I remember it ran like crap on any system back then. It was such a huge, open world with many possibilities. Not sure if it was my G73 or my desktop but whatever I played it on it was totally smooth with everything cranked up. You could see so far that it made the game seem much smaller, especially when compared to modern RPG worlds.

To this day every single computer I’ve owned since 2000 has had Diablo 2 on it. And I’m not a big player, just like the occasional hack and slash.

Hahaha Diablo II... I've got that on mine now, although I've only got about half-way thru and haven't played it much in ages. L4D2 takes up too much of my time. That co-op gameplay is way too addictive.
