Hey guys, i've recently swapped out my 5870m xfire for a single 6990m on my m17x r2 system. Temp stays idle at 46 degree and during usage it'll go from 50-60+

When i play games like Heroes of Newerth or League of Legends my temp will rise up till 67-70 which is slightly higher than my 5870m xfire setup. Did not really concern me until recently when i started playing Kingdom of Amalur. After playing only about 10-15 minutes, i noticed that my temperature spiked up till 90 degree!

Is this temp normal? Btw i overclocked my card to 740/1000 when playing Kingdom of Amalur

    Edit:
Just checked again that temp remains the same between 86-90 even if i run my cards at stock

The temps seem a little high...my dual 6970's never go above 70C or so. However the 6990s are a bit warmer and even at 86-90 that doesn't seem overly excessive.

It's possible that you could re-paste your card and possibly get a bit better if it's concerning you. The other option would be to undervolt your card a bit (which should drop you a few degrees, but could limit your over-clocking ability).

Other things to consider if you haven't already is to prop up the back of the R2, or get a cooling fan. Might save you a few degrees as well. Also what Jedi North suggested checking your vents for potential blockage.

Billy, hitting 90c is a tad high. What paste are you using? And do you have the back of your laptop raised up?

Do me a favor, download Furmark and run the default burn-in test to compare to mine. My temps go up to 72c, then the fans kick in and it stabilizes at 67c and it just stays there. This is with a repaste of PK-1
