    Hi,

I recently received my M17x r3, it's working good. Well when i checked the driver for my video card, it's seems a pretty old one. Version: 8.800.6.0

My question is: Can I just simply install the latest driver(11.6 is it?)? or I have to stay with old Dell pre-installed one due to maybe some compatibility issue with latest driver?

    Thanks!

Edit: following questions: I am thinking overclocking my 6970m as well, but i am newbie about this. I only know there is a software called TRIXX that can do OC.
So, anything else I need to know about OC? and what core clock/memory clock should I use?

Yeah, you can just install the new gpu drivers over top the old ones. Do not uninstall the dell drivers, though. That could create problems. You can use trix as well. I oc mine to 830/1150.
EDIT: And i am using 11.7. They haven't been officially released, but I would just go 11.6. The driver you listed.

    Thanks TearTaker,

I installed 11.6b without uninstall the old one, however the Device manager indicates that the driver version still unchange: 8.800.6.0

Am I doing it wrong or it's suppose to be like this?

Go to CCC, then information, then software to check and make sure you have 11.6. Or even gpu-z.

I'm a fool, or at least feel like one. I downloaded the new driver from Dell and thought I installed it. This is what CCC says,

Do I have the updated driver?

Edit: Does this site have a limit on picture sizes? Thought I remembered reading that somewhere so I just put the link to the picture instead.

I installed the drivers labeled as OCL because mine wouldn't install the actual drive with the catalyst suite but now instead of 6970 it says radeon 6000 series in device manager. Is that just a side effect and it won't affect any actual performance?
