Can i use both the HDMI and Display port at the same time? I'm looking to buy a couple of screens and just want to make sure it's possible.

well, on my M17X-R1, I was able to use the laptop display and an HDTV through the HDMI port, so I suppose you could use the external display and HDMI at the same time...

But I did have to disable SLI, BTW

    If you're still running that 4870, I don't think it's possible because 4xxx cards don't support Eyefinity.

I didn't mean for Eyefinity necessarily, just as a typical dual monitor setup for windows.

I briefly had two monitors running in this setup, had a Samsung 2233rz plugged into the DisplayPort and a Samsung Syncmaster 2053BW using the HDMI port, worked perfectly.

I currently have a single 4870 card in my system and I run two external displays just fine. One is attached via HDMI and the other via VGA. I am not certain if this is close enough to an answer for your specific scenario.

Note, when connecting the second external display the laptop's screen shuts off. This is fine with me as I just keep the screen closed and move the machine to the back of my desk anyways (I use external mouse/keyboard too).

Thanks for the responses guys. Sounds like it's possible. I don't suppose anyone has tried using a Displayport to HDMI adaptor, or happens to know if they work without any issues?
