As I anticipate my new M17x r3 was wondering how you think Elder Scrolls V will run?

My new specs include: 2760qm, 8gig ram, gtx 580m, 256SSD.

    My current desktop system is a i7 930, 6gig ram and a Radeon 5870.

    Wonder how they will compare?

nice system :) with the 580m i don't see you having any problems running it almost all high to maxxed out in 2d. in 3d you might have to make some sacrifices to get a decent framerate(if u have 3d).

thank you, I have 3d but probably won't use if it decreases performance. I remember Oblivion and how it brought most systems to it's knees. Hoping that doesn't happen this time with V.

It was made for consoles unfortunately, therefore the graphics won't be that great. But they are still expected to be good don't get me wrong.

I believe Skyrim uses the same engine as Oblivion. Max settings at 60fps might be asking a bit much, but most of the guys with higher-end systems should be fine.

I'm pretty damn sick of the console ports too. That hardware is half a decade old.

Its supposed to be seriously updated, if not complete rebuild of the Oblivion engine. But that being said, I still dont think its going to be a terribly demanding game...its mostly running off the tech based on directx 9.0c so your rig should be fine (barring Driver issues and the typical technical problems all Bethesda games have in the beginning).

geometry and effects target consoles with DX9_3 class features and limited ram. it's not gonna task your rig in the slightest, unless it's a sloppy-a** port ala saint's row 2 (not likely given bethesda's previous releases, including the two fallout 3 games)

I've got a 460m, 8GB of RAM, 2720QM. I should be able to play in high-ish range, right?

It is a 'quick' console port, so there is no way of knowing what will happen. Probably going to be a lot of patching early on, and ports generally use a lot of CPU. I've already pre-ordered it through Steam, so I will get to find out about all of the day one bugs that there will no doubt be. Bethesda has been pretty good about making its games very PC friendly though.
