    i believe so yes.....

if you go assembling the laptop on Dell

it shows an option to assemble one with 64GB msata and a 750 (?rpm) drive, AND THEN there is the option to add another drive

That's right. Two HDD/SSD bays and an mSATA slot. If an SSD is being used as the system drive, I don't see any good reason to have an mSATA SSD also.

What about as a smart response drive/caching for the mechanical? Especialy if the mechanical is a 5400rpm.

    Extra SSD
AnandTech - Micron C400 mSATA (128GB) SSD Review

Newer mSATA perform as good as normal SATA SSD
That way you can use m.SATA SSD for OS and dual HD for your content if you need the space

It's getting released next month not out yet, there are plenty of mSATA out there but they are either slow or old SSDs (mSATA was not popular since most people just gets the normal 2.5SSD)

But with more desktop motherboards releasing now with mSATA slots and newer laptops with mSATA slot these will be popular soon

I'm actually tying to get people to help me make an Amazon pricematch work in this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m14x/663431-msata-m14xr2.html

It's for a pretty decent, SATA II 64GB mSATA drive. $76. I'd appreciate any help getting it pricematched!

As for putting on in the M17X, I feel it's a bit of a waste, since mSATA cost about 2x as much as normal SSDs.
