What graphics card do you have? I don't think Nvidia have GOP drivers yet. You could try resetting the CMOS by disconnecting the CMOS (and main) battery.

I don't remember if the OS needs a specific page file for fast boot or if it creates a special page file for fast boot when the OS is installed. In any event, that is something you should check. In any event, 8 beeps points to an LCD failure. But we know the LCD is fine, plus that beep code could mean anything in the video display system is causing the problem.

Try removing the battery for a little while (10 mins) and make sure every other power source is out too.

Sounds like something may have failed then, an option like that should be cleared with a CMOS reset. Maybe try and emergency bios recovery?

What are your BIOS settings btw? You should have legacy support diabled? UEFI + AHCI is the most stable combination, haven't tried UEFI + RAID yet.

Did you by any chance install the OS in a mSATA? I've seen a lot of trouble with Windows 8 + mSATA's, it would be good to start discarding possibilities.

If possible send me a PM with your service tag, I'd like to follow up on your case and see what turns out to be the problem.

I'd be surprised if those issues lead to bricking the machine.
