I can tell you why the error is coming up but as for how to fix it I am pretty useless....

Basically the 770m that the machine comes pre-loaded with only require a 180W adapter , so when you change to the 780m which require more power the website knows that the 180W adapter won't be enough and it feeds you the error which is actually a good thing since the 180W adapter wouldn't work all that well with the computer should they not notice it and ship it anyways. Chances are even if you were to order it the order would get cancelled when someone saw the wrong adapter forcing you to start all over. Your best bet is to call in and order over the phone if your that ready to buy one, you might even get the price down a bit if you haggle.

Your not the first person we have seen on here that has had a lot of trouble with the European site, unfortunately that just seems to be the way it is.

And your correct I didn't see a link either, even in dutch :p

Call to Dell sales, they'll be able to process it properly.

Same thing happened to me (french website).
When error occurs, you just have to click on 240W radio button that should appear just below GTX780M radio button.
Hope this helps ! Good luck

What Radio button? Check my this link in my post. There is no option to change it, on alienware.fr there is an option to select another powercord. However that option is not available on alienware.nl

Ic well i get that it needs more power, dell should automatically change the powercord on the web site....

Could you report this to the right person so that Dell can fix this problem? This issue is here for more then 1 month, also why doesnt the website select an EU powercord that can power the gtx780? Or atleast provide a link or option to get a stronger powercord. It automaticlly selects the UK powercord. Doesnt EU have a powercord that is strong enough?! Does it not exist? I have talked to a Dell employee via the chat (alienwaresalesexpert) but they are very rude and not helpfull at all. The Alienware i want to buy cost a little more then € 2200 euro, € 1749 for the laptop + €250 for the gtx780 + €55,- for 1 year accident insurance This is not a small amount and if they treath everyone as rude and unhelpfull then Dell will lose alot of people...

So Please i ask of u to report this to the right people so that Dell can fix this problem asap. I will wait and order the laptop directly from the website once the error gets fixed.

Its not the power cord. The cords are the same. Its the power brick which can handle a specific amount of wattage.

It seems that they fixed the error, it no longer shows when i select the gtx780. I do have a question:

When i look at my basket i see that there is a Power Supply 240W adapter with a Cable UK 250V Power Cord.
I dont have much knowledge about power cables and such but it automaticlly selects the UK powercord and i dont see any option to change it. Why doesnt it select an EU powercord? Will a UK powercord cause any trouble?

The actual power cord is the bit from the PSU to the wall socket.

The UK powercord will normally not fit your wall outlets and needs to be replaced.

It should be easy to get hold of the 3 pin cable suitable for the PSU. (any old screen, desktop computer, etc should have one)

You probably have at least one unused @ home.

I do have a few 3 pins cables from my old desktop, but how do i know that that powercord will be good enough to provide my alienware with the correct amount of power that it needs? And is it not dangerous to use another powercord? Also this is so wierd, the laptop cost € 2200,- i should not be having this conversation.

The actual Cord needs to provide your apx 240 W supply with sufficient power to operate.

    240W and 240V = 1Amp of current.
This means pretty much any power cord will be enough for supplying this PSU. Below unthinkable small wires inside. (normal wires in the cable would be from 1,5 - 2.5 cm2 inside and is good for at least 10 amps and up depending on your countrys standards)
If socket for cable fits wall and PSU, your good. (its the square pins btw, not the HP circular ones. )

This for the North American standard of 120 volts at a frequency of 60 Hz (for them the current would be double of yours and wires would still be big enough), and the European standard of 220–240 volts at 50 Hz. Its the PSU that should worry about input voltage and frequency not the power cord between wall and PSU.
But this PSU doesnt care about the input voltage difference it just doubles the current in the US from the wall, and you will regardless be served one for UK standard = same voltage and frequency as you have at home, just a plug difference.

The British power off the wall is not very different from yours, only the actual plug in the wall differs quite a bit.
