    Hello,

I tried to dismantle and re-paste thermal to my video card on my MX17 R2. The video card was 5870m I believe, definitely 5800 series. I followed a YouTube video through the dismantling process and back peddled once I re-pasted. I'm receiving the following error and I am unable to hit F1,2,or 12 during the process.

    "Mouse Initialized
    System Configuration Data Updated
    Error
Connect supported AC Adapter for optimal operation"

On a separate log in and going forward it says

    "Mouse Initialized
    Error
Connect supported AC Adapter for optimal operation"

My first thought is I may not have correctly connected the keyboard. It is lit up but not responding to my initial set up key pressing.

I'm ready to go back all the way and reconnect everything I wanted to get some direction first on what specifically may be the problem. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

    Update:

After turning it on and off 5-6 times and leaving it running with the error message up it simply won't turn on at all

You also have a PSU issue.

Try power drain, and if that is not good enough, you might have to try another PSU or solder the socket on the mobo.

"Connect supported AC Adapter for optimal operation" normally means a power issue.
This means you run on battery and don't get charge, eventually your battery will be drained and the computer will not longer start.

Your Alien-heads shall change color if your computer is charging. (even when turned off)

    [Resolved]

Good info. I went back and re-set the ribbon on the power button panel (Alien Head) I noticed that it was not on when my Pc had power.

Funny story. I took the whole unit apart and re-assembled. It still did not turn on. I plugged it in went for a walk and when I came back it powered up and has been running like a beast since.

I am 90% sure the ribbon on the strip above the keyboard was not correctly attached (Alien head power button). This caused the error and the eventual battery drain. I'm not sure why the F2 button did not function but I'm glad it's resolved. Also running quietly after re-paste and cleaning.

I think the take away from this is to know a little bit about the ribbon wiring before you mess with it.

    Thanks
