Hi, as long as the 7970 supports 120hz (which I think it does?) then it should produce noticeable improvements. Even though you might not be running at FPS over 60 it just looks smoother. Very subjective though. The quality of the 120hz panel I have may be something else that sets it apart?

    Good luck.

    60hz monitor=60fps to be smooth
120hz monitor=120fps to be smooth, if you dont got 120fps in the game that you want to...dont get a 120hz monitor

That's the logic but in reality I and many others have been impressed with 120hz gaming even if the game does not manage to exceed 60fps . Screen tearing in older games goes away as well - no need for v-sync.
    Your eyes may vary ;)

You would buy a thing and couldnt use it to it's full capacity...only 120fps will show on 120hz..less...will diminuate it's performance...I'm almoust sure that you will see also lag if you set it to 120hz and you have 60fps 2x less that it's suppoused to work

    doesnt look right

Well I guess we disagree. Watching a utube in 60hz is not going to show up anything. The display is still refreshing at 120hz even if the game cannot produce a new frame for every scan. Lag/latency is actually reported as less by on-line gamers - not my thing!

I'd say try it and see. You can always return an on-line purchase if it does not do as well as you hope?

Being as your stats show you don't have the 120Hz screen I am not sure how you can argue the point with people that do have it. Regardless of what I am pulling for FPS the games I play BF4 included which does not pull 120FPS does look a lot better with the 120Hz screen. So you can go ahead and argue your stats all you want but the simple fact is that yes the 120Hz screen does make a difference.

Should be no issues, just get the appropriate cable. I went from 60hz to 120hz panel on the 17 and it made a big difference, but its subjective.

Depends on your vision, 60hz to 120hz makes a massive difference to me.

60Hz to 78Hz made a difference to me too, I'd love a 120Hz screen though - I'd turn down some of the details and aim for 100fps+ on some games (like Titanfall). (I'd probably be happy with 100Hz though, I've seen quite a few Asus laptop owners overclocking their 60Hz panels to 100Hz). On really fast paced games when you're quickly turning & trying to track a fast moving target, then you just lose the detail & it becomes a slideshow effectively - fast moving objects would have huge spatial distance gaps between their viewed positions from frame to frame (less so at 120Hz).

Thx again for your support guys.
DDDennis, what kind of cable do you use ? I think in my case would be male mini displayport to male display port its correct?
And finally a good monitor with 120 hz could be ? Whats your favorite choices(benq, asus..)?
And thanks again for your support friends

I think mini displayport to displayport (male on both ends) would be the one.

Check reviews for monitors, I'm not sure, I bought a new laptop which came with the 120hz panel and my old R4 had the 60hz.

Asus or benq would be fine tbh, get it from somewhere with a good returns policy just incase it has any imperfections (dead pixels/stuck).

Male to male is correct, and a standard cable is all you need for a digital signal after all.

Wait Wait.. So an AW17x R4 with 7970M can send a 120Hz signal down a displayport cable to a 120Hz monitor?

That's the unknown. It will not boot from it but the refresh rate will be driver dependent. It should show up in windows when it detects the monitor capabilities. I would expect it to work and would be surprised if it did not ;)

good luck - and remember, the internet returns policy (in almost every country) is your friend :D
