Does anyone have an external NVidia 3D Vision bundle such as:

    3D Vision Bundle

and can verify if it works with a M17xR3 without 3D (460M with 60Hz panel)?

In case you are wondering why, if it does support external 3D, then I will definitely exchange my M17xR3 with 3D Vision for a M17xR3 with Optimus. Thanks!

I would really like to know the answer to this too as I'm planning on purchasing the 23" alienware monitor and I want to plug it into my m17x r-3, which should be arriving soon :)

It won't work with the Alienware monitor because it only accepts the 120hz connection over DVI.

I purchsed the Mini-DisplayPort connector to DVI cable assembly to test if it was possible. I was told it was, but there have been many stories about being told things. I own the Alienware AW 2310 3D monitor which I use with a 3D desktop system. I have actually recieved the adapter which I orderred at the same time as the R3. Unfortunately... it seems it will be a while before I get my R3. Perhaps someone else can look into it.

The part number for the adapter the sales rep said is in the manual:
A3448582 Mini DisplayPort DVI Video Adapter Converter

    =====================

An alternative adapter that may work:

    Read the reviews first.

I don't suppose you live near San Diego, CA?

Could it be that you found a different adapter that may work where the one they recommended to me may not? Certainly the Dual DVI is important. The adapter Dell referred me to was the one they said was in the manual. I am not convinced I have the correct adapter at the moment --- ARGGGHHHHHHH

It is worth reading the reviews on both adapters.

Every effort I have made with converters has failed. I have not tried the one you posted above.

I'm really disappointed to hear that it doesn't support 3d gaming all that great, and that it's geared more for 3d movie watching, at least with the 460. :(

Single link DVI will not be enough bandwidth for the 23" monitor. So be careful to find a Displayport to dual link dvi adapter.

    Just to be clear:

Turns out the mini displayport adapter that Dell referred me to from the manual is only a single link DVI adapter.
There are numerous posts here and throughout the internet that this will only pass a 60Hz signal and is therefore NOT compatible with 3D. If you need it for non-3D work, it appears to be a nice choice. It figures!
There are reports of other mini displayport adapters that provide the dual link connection (e.g. apple) where people are trying to apply it to 3D Vision, and they still can’t select 120 Hz. I have not found any successful stories out there yet, but that does not mean they don’t exist.

I have also not found any 3D or 120Hz information on the dual link adapter identified by jywang.
