I have to set everything to "LOW" with no AF or AA just to get 25FPS in BF3. I have a new m17x R3, and I repasted the GPU/CPU with NT-H1 a few weeks back. I ran the beta just fine (ultra textures, everything else high) at around 35FPS. I have the 2630am and 6990m w/8bg RAM. I reinstalled the graphics driver off Dell's website and came up at about 40FPS in the ultra/high settings. As SOON as I changed HBAO to SSAO to try and improve framerate everything took a crap again and started running at 13-18FPS. I understand I could simply reinstall the drivers but it seems stupid that I can't change my settings. Any ideas?

There's a cap driver I believe to optimize for BF3 performance.

Are you not using the 11.10 Version 3 driver? It's purpose is Battlefield 3 performance increases.

No I was using the driver from the Dell website. When I uninstalled the dell driver then installed 11.10 for the beta I could not get my laptop to use discrete graphics. It showed 2 display adapters and I could never get it to properly use the 6990m. So frustrating to write software for a living and still not be able to use windows. x(

EDIT: After the reboot, 11.10 says there was an error and the drivers did not install properly. Tried Googl'ing and couldn't find any real solutions. :-/

I've found not having atioglxx.dll from the 11.10 driver in conjunction with BF3 actually gave me better performance...

I will try tomorrow. Surprisingly I have read this a lot of places that 11.9 was better than 11.10
