My laptop is one year old. Recently, like two or three weeks ago, it started having FPS problems. Sometimes I can run a game like GTA 4 on high graphics without any problems. Other days I cannot run a basic game from 2005 without it having an FPS drop.

I noticed that when I first had this FPS issue my computer felt unnaturally hot. Really hot that I want not able to put my hand on it. My GPU, when I turned it on today was 97 C, other days it is 57 C at start up.

Right now I was playing a basic game and computer automatically shut off without any explanation. I believe my GPU got so hot that the computer initated an auto-shut down to prevent video card damage.

    What is going on ?!

Have you checked your vents underneath the computer? It might be full of dust and since it is a year old I would think that a new thermal pasting is in order.

Yes, I checked the vents underneath. I saw some dust and blew it out. Now it looks clear. Is that good enough? Am I supposed to open my laptop and clean the fan blades?

    What is a repaste?

Also is there a guide online how to safely open up my version of laptop to clean the fans? Note: I do not have compressed air.

Opening the laptop up is probably your best bet. My old Toshiba laptop was running really hot and I felt little airflow from the vent but alot of heat. I watched a video on youtube of the disassembly and it was simple. After taking the bottom off I saw basically a "quilt" of particles that collected between the fan and heat sink fins. I removed the "quilt" of stuff and blew it all out with compressed air and put it back together. It cools like a new machine.
