    Hi peeps,
I have been playing the new Dead Island game for some cheezy zombie entertainment. I have found that no matter what settings I use in this game that it will run flawlessly for a little while but soon into my wandering the island I get insane fps drop/complete lock ups for a few seconds. Once it starts it doesn't seem to recover it just continues stuttering in places it will run without a problem before the issue starts. Temps look normal on GPU (65 - 67 degrees C, same as other games so I can't see this being throttling on the GPU). CPU runs around 73 degrees Celcius and this too is normal for me in other games. Again issue happens no matter what graphics settings I use. Not sure what is the root cause here. Maybe the game needs some patches I dunno. Currently using the 280.26 nvidia driver with modded inf file.

Also I set the nvidia card in the control panel as the card of choice. It is obviously being used based on it's temps rising and the fan on the right side is kicking in as per norm. The game also randomly crashes on me too so might be just a super flaky release.

Any ideas are welcome ;) I will be going to work in a few hours but will try any suggestions when I have time.

** EDIT ** I just woke up and thought maybe there is something on this PC I can do but I am seeing more and more news about dead island Steam version being an unfinished buggy product and that there will be a patch later today to resolve alot of issues. I may be should just hold on since all my other games play flawlessly in comparison.

Hey man, this is a common problem , if you look in the Steam forums for this game you will see that it has been confirmed that the wrong version of dead island was uploaded to steam. It is an Xbox 360 developer beta build.

There are some fixes that may help you, the game sets the process of the game to very low , you will have to ctrl+alt+delete then head to task manager , go to processes and raise dead island priority to high. Helped some. You can also use a different SLI / Xfire profile for the game and see if it helps. Regardless Dead island is to have a "PC Version" uploaded to steam later today that should remove all issues. Hopefully.

I played it for 4 hours yesterday off STEAM and max settings and 1080p and FRAPS was saying 70-85fps the whole time. Must be Nvidia. The game is sick by the way.

Oh Space Marines places awesome as well on all settigns maxed.

The patch has been released on Steam to fix these issues. Try restarting steam.

I just got home from work. Looks like Techland has officially stated there are major issues with the Steam release and they are still working on fixing things. For the heck of it I removed and reloaded the game. When it loads up it does have "below normal" priority in task manager. Quite a bad launch for this new game ;/ Anyways think it's safe to say it's growing pains for this title and I just need to be patient. Thanks for the replies.

Another good way to reset Steam is to go into the Steam folder and delete everything accept the Steam executable and the steamapps folder. You won't lose any games or game saves, but Steam will be forced to update itself and any games you have installed.

Played 7hrs nonstop w/o FPS probs / bugs / glitches / crashes - runs like a charm on my R3 (6970m). The game itself? AWESOME!
