    Hello,

Well this is a problem that has started about a month ago and simply put, it's really annoying now.
What happens is that I start to play my games and about 30-40 minutes in, my fps will drop to an unplayable 20-25 fps.
I started up HWinfo64 to see if my temperatures were the problem and the temps seem to be ok until I scroll down and see my "intel PCH" temperature spike all the way to 88-90 Celsius. That's pretty high I think? I'm not entirely sure what the problem is so that's why I'm posting here. I read online that I should re-paste my CPU and I did hoping it would make it better. Any help would be really appreciated.

    Thanks,
    -Toledano

Hi there, Which GPU do you have?

It sounds like it's throttling due to temp. Most NV cards will do this at around 78C. It could also be the power throttle that plagues NV cards. If you load up msiafterburner and go into the settings you can set an on-screen display for the temp, clock speed, and FPS while you are gaming. If you see the clock speed drop at a specific temp then you will need to repaste (GPU) - or maybe just a clean out will cure it. Remove the fan and have a look at how much dust has accumulated, if you haven't ever cleaned it out I think you will be surprised!

If you have an AMD card then I do not know if they throttle but the above can check.

It certainly sounds like a heat problem, please post your Video Card's model and the current temperatures you get while playing. (CPU/GPU etc..)

Ooh okok, thanks guys for the help and I'll open it up when I get home and yeah, i've never cleaned out the GPU fans before :0
Just the CPU. I probably should have done that earlier.

Not sure if a cause for this, but I have a couple of cats and somewhere I read that cat hair is very bad for it. I shouldn't be surprised if that's the problem? Either way, i'll give it a check as soon as I get the chance!

Good stuff. Funny you say that I was just about to mention that my cat sits close to my lappy and I find a clean is needed every 3 months or so. A can of compressed air is useful :D

I'm sorry for the late reply though; I've been busy. :L
Phew I FINALLY got around to checking on my laptop and I cleaned out my GPU fans (there was some dust clogging the vents) and I'm happy to say I haven't had a problem with it ;D
It's amazing what a simple cleaning will do. Thanks!!
