I have had my M17x for about 2 weeks. I play SWTOR and SKYRIM and average 50-80 fps on full graphics. I havent played any games in a few days. I logged on to SWTOR today to see my fps around 20. I then started up skyrim to make sure that SWTOR wasnt the problem and got the same fps there. I have not made any changes to my graphics settings. Dell wants me to do a complete factory restore which i really dont want to do becuase that was thier first suggestion. Anyone have any idea what could be the problem? I have the GTX 660m. The only thing i have installed since i last played a game is microsoft office, java, and flash. I did a system restore to a date before those installs and am still having the same problems. Is it possible my computer is using the onboard chip instead of the GTX? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Im sure you know i forked out a lot of dough for this machine and this fps problem is giving me a lot of anxiety. Thanks in advace.

Have you tried whitelisting the .exe files for both games? If not, try follow the guide in my sig to help figure out how to do it. for SWTOR I would whitelist both the TOR.exe and the launcher as well. Hope this helps. -
Thank you for the welcome and the quick response. I whitelisted both skyrim and SWTOR. I have only tested skyrim and it did bump me up to around 50. The only thing that is weird is that when I ran it, it did an auto detect of my hardware and set the game for low settings. The first time I ran it, obviously, it did the same test but set the graphics for high. Its kind of bothing me. What changed?

ok so more problems. It worked for about a day then the windows updates installed again and the problems returned. I did a system restore and the programs were still whitelisted but were running at 30fps again. I tried to delete them but it would not let me. I updated the driver for the onboard videocard and that fixed the problem. for today anyway. I was playing skyrim and crashed to desktop ( turned collision off, that causes it to crash ocasionally) It would not run again so i had to restart and after the restart im back to the same problem my FPS is Stuck at 30 for all games. They are still whitelisted. and now it is showing up with an error in device manager saying there is no driver for the GTX card and when i try to update it it says there isnt one. also the onboard videocard doesnt even show up on the list. Im pulling my hair out. Any ideas?
FPS has died...
