Its a M17X by the way

I am only posting this as a last result, I have been doing alot of research past 24 hours, searching this forum trying out all their method and etc. Still no fix yet.

    *NOTE WEIRD THING*

*Weird thing Is My graphics card GTX 460m is not showing up, it only shows my Intel graphics card which is at the bottom.

    Brief desc. of my problem:
I just got the brand new alienware R3 computer everything seems fine installed cs, league of legends, and all the other stuff works fine. Problem starts when I load counter-strike get in-game and enable Flashlight, when I enable flash light my fps drops to about 20-30, and when I am in a group fight shooting at each other my fps drops to about 50-60, and when I throw about 3-4 smokes it drops to about 35-70. I have updated all my drivers retried, same problem. I did a roll-back same problem. I tried Direct 3D same problem. So I gave up and decided to take a break and play LEAGUE OF LEGENDS. ALL HIGH SETTINGS and I am getting Constant 60fps..... :(... so does anyone have a fix to this? here is the info i got

    its a source based game...

AKA, you have an uber vid card, but the engine uses more CPU than anything else...

IRRC 1.6 is on an older source engine that doesn't support more than 1 core/thread.

CS:S has been updated to use more than 1 core/thread

He said 1.6, not source, 1.6 uses Half Life 1 graphics engine and it is not as demanding as source. I used to have this problem and I forgot how I fixed it. I don't think it's anything wrong with your computer might just be 1.6 being weird. Try inputting these commands into the console and see if it helps. fps_max 101, cl_cmdrate 101, cl_updaterate 101, rate 3000.

I been playing cs for a while, I have all those basic commands, it is so weird, because I am able to play any other FPS demanding game perfectly fine. I am assuming this has something to do with my graphic card feature called optimus technology, it just pretty much tells whenever my graphics card if its needed it comes out...

I read all over the forums about this problem, but no one has ever found a solution.

There is a 24 hour thread bump policy on this site. I wish I could help you out, but I have an R2. Maybe try updating the drivers or disable the integrated GPU to try to force it to run on the dedicated.

If you aren't even seeing the graphics card listed in Display Adapters there is an issue. Remove the GPU and re-seat it. If it still doesn't show up call AW tech support. They will have you do a bunch of nothing that will fix anything then send a tech out to replace the GPU card.

I think what you are seeing is an issue with Optimus. This is the reason why I steer everyone away, because Optimus causes more issues than help.

Your computer thinks you aren't doing something that needs a good video card, so it switches to IGP to "save power."

A lot of people have been having issues with newer games too, and it doesn't surprise me that it happens with an old game like 1.6. This is probably the case of the game being too old for Optimus.

There is no way for anyone to manually disable Optimus or to manually switch which GPU to use. Not that I know of anyway. Sorry!
