Is it normal that when I'm in the game menus (like Starcraft 2, heroes of newerth, etc...) my fan starts spinning and makes lots of noise? I'm not even playing yet. (my GPU reaches 70 degrees when im browsing player profiles in starcraft 2 and GPU load is around 50%)

what system are we dealing with?
In most cases high temps. can be tamed with a repaste (paste of your choice doesn't really make a big difference what brand you choose) and if it's the case dust removing from the heatsink blades.

For Sc2, check your variables.txt, and make sure that the fps limit is set to 60, otherwise, it might be doing that thing where the game will continuously "?render?" <-- not sure if that's the right word. But yah, it has the ability to eventually fry your gpu iirc. Also, I might be wrong with this, cuz blizzard may have already addressed this in recent patches.
