Hi, I received my 7970m from eurocom yesterday. I installed it in my M17x R2 last night and it was running perfectly. I turned off my laptop and let it sit on my desk. However, when I turned my laptop on again this morning, nothing was displayed except a vertical white line on the screen. I reseated the card and reconnected the LCD display cable, the issue was still there. But, the issue was gone after I put my old 5870m back to the laptop. Did I get a faulty 7970m? Please help me out. Thanks

hey send them a message of your problem and see if they encountered the same issues and what they did to resolve it. I'm waiting on my 7970m from Eurocom and hoping i dont encounter any issues. I know a couple people with R3's who have the Eurocom cards are doing fine but I think your the first with an R2 to do it.

Slickdude you got anything on panyihan's issue?

He's the 7970m guru god right now!!

another thing I noticed is that I was not able to obtain the vbios using GPU-Z. GPUZ cannot even read the current gpu clock. I think it is due to the special vbios Eurocom modded for alienware users

My 7970m seems to be working again. I find that if I press ctrl+alt+delete to reboot my laptop when I get the vertical white line, the problem will be gone after several reboots. Now, I'm typing on my 7970m. Does the vertical line issue have anything to do with the lack of enough voltage?
I also cannot dump the Vbios through GPUZ (also no temps reading)

Panyihan, I can see that you have M17x R2, so might be revision 2 wont fully support latest 7970M card. As you have replaced your system with new card, so i think you definitely did reset system bios isnt it. Eurocom are trusted but electronics like + or -, so it may be but first you should check capability with system.
