Is a faulty power jack connector covered under the alienware warranty ?
I ask because one of ours is less than 30 days old and the power jack is knackered and no longer charges the battery. (just says plugged in not charging)
The laptop has not been moved since the day it arrived and was setup so must of been like that when it arrived im guessing.

we also have a problem with the blu ray device scratching the living daylights out of disks we insert into it also...
so I will require that to be looked into also.

All of these issues should be covered under warranty. The plugged in not charging could be the adapter as well as there is an ID chip in that that if not functioning correctly can spit that error out. Is there physical damage to the port on the MB? If not then I would suspect the adapter is probably the culprit. As for the BluRay drive I would have them ship you out a new drive and a tech to replace it if your not comfortable doing it yourself although in these machines the BluRay drive is quite easy to change, just a few screws and a cable :)

It's likely the ID pin has shorted to the live inner barrel if it shows as plugged in and not charging, get the machine looked at however.
