I really want to repaste and do the cooling mod(s) to my m17x r2. I have limited dexterity in one of my hands due to a surgical incident, so doing it myself is out of the question. My concern, however, is bringing my machine to a technician that won't be able to do it properly, or worse - screw it up. Given that this will void my warranty (will repaste void it? Or just the cooling mods?) I don't want to take any chances.

Does anyone know of a really good pc tech in the greater new orleans area? If not, what would be good questions to ask to verify if they know their stuff? Is there a good vetting process? I also need to make sure that someone won't have an ego about it and not follow the guides. The guides have some really good info, as well as some cautionary mentions that I don't want anyone to overlook (glue on the xfire cable that, if not cleaned, will melt on the piping). To have someone come onsite would cost twice as much, but it may be worth it to make sure they use the guide? I had a TERRIBLE experience with a tech that alienware sent to my house back in 2008 when I bought an m9750. Alienware contracted the technician to come to my house because the video cards in the machine were performing poorly. The tech actually dropped one of the cards and yelled @ me for asking if it was okay to put in the machine. Long story short, after having different technicians come to my house 5 times, each with new video cards, and me sending the machine into the repair facility 4 times, they finally offered me a the m15x instead for no additional cost. It had been over 8 months of me having a computer that I couldn't use, and the m15x was their new model so they offered it to me. I was hesitant about the smaller screen, but it turned out serving me very well. I know people complained about the hinges, but I never had an issue and that machine worked very well for me for a very long time.

Definitely went off on a tangent there, but regardless I'd like to find someone who really knows their stuff.

    Thanks guys.
