My experience with a Nebula Red M17x and fingerprints leaves a lot to be desired. I can see from photos of the Cosmic Black version that the problem is even worse. Can any owner of a Lunar Silver model confirm whether the problem is less obvious for you please?

As I'm supposed to be getting a replacement soon I'm thinking that it may be better to get it in Silver to dilute the fingerprint issue.

Yep fingerprints loves cosmic black, not just fingerprints but also smudges/grease.

Lunar Shadow will def hide fingerprints, smudges, grease and it also looks good ( Silver in a magnesium or metal alloy material matches it) once you see it in person because sample pics on the internet doesn't do it any justice.

Yeah, I would keep it clean too. It's just that with the red one it's rather difficult because even with a microfiber cloth you can still see traces.

The m17x R1 and R2 all have anodized aluminium lids!

I have the Lunar Silver but it doesn't look anything like that even if i try.

Nice idea katalin but I'm getting a brand new replacement machine so I can order it in whatever colour I like. If you are painting yours, don't forget that it really needs to be anodized if you want a perfect finish.

So you are in France too! I get the impression that like me, you are not French. ;)

I think you are a bit confused. Painting aluminium properly is a process known as anodizing. You don't anodize and then paint.

I sell stilts with aluminium frames. Many people have tried painting them but the paint always flakes off. Only anodizing will stay put.

There's an excellent tutorial on how to anodize at home HERE.

    I know that's a nice site.
What i'm going to to is use sand paper (1000 grip) and water, clean it,apply paint let it dry and apply clear coat.

Good luck! Let us know how it turns out. If you use a different colour to the 3 offered by Dell you will have an unique Alienware. :)
