    hello guys, ive got the nice r3 on my hands but from time to time, i need to edit videos on my laptop.. but cant capture since my camera is a sony with firewire output.

    what can i do? this doesnt have firewire, and cant find any usb 3.0 adapter or eSata..

    any help, appreciated.

    Coming from the audio side of Firewire... it seems like the only thing that's pratical now is ExpressCard. There ARE mini PCIe Firewire cards, but they require a molex connection and a way to route the Firewire ports. I wish there was another way, but I spent a very long time looking for a solution. Any firewire > usb adaptor I bought on eBay didn't do anything except cause my system to shut down as soon as I plugged it in.

    Your best bet is to use an old system to capture/transfer the video and send it over to the mx17 that way. Good luck.

    aw damn, they should make a firewire readers through usb 3.0, hopefully someone will make a better solution for this.
