Thats messed up considering people can overclock the MSI and Clevo 680M.

Oh well, just a matter of time before someone figures out what is locked. :)

    Nevermind :p

would be nice to get this 680M bios hes using since its clearly not the same as i have (judging by its revision-number its an older version)...

I thought that Hackness with his 680m and the overclocked 7970m's out there were breaking 7000?

That's kind of disappointing then, I was hoping the Alienware would take it up a notch. I hope the 4GB of memory doesn't somehow make a difference on his 680m.

Cloudfire, could you perhaps provide thisbios? Mine is 80.04.33.00.21. Also, do you have a 3D display?

Now we're getting somewhere. A 3610qm and OC'd 680m on an R4. Is that your best 680m OC or are you still working on that?

Here's my scores, would appreciate you running Heaven 3.0 at same settings and then run at own desired settings and I'll do yours.

    Grats on the new lappy!

Guys, the bench in the picture has been achieved with a M17xR4 initially equipped with a GTX675M and upgraded to a Clevo GTX680M.

This is the best score he could achieve but shy from the P7000+ achieved in the Clevos nb.

I also upgraded my MSI GT70 with the Clevo GTX680M and it performs exactly the same way (P6750 @ 854/1150) so not sure yet why it "under performs" compared to the P150/P170EM's.

All cards do from my experience. I have used Clevo and Eurocom cards in Dell machines and all their sub ven ids have been Dell. And changing the vbios doesn't help either.

Nope look at my Clevo GTX680M GPU-Z in the MSI 1762:

It's similar to the MSI 680M GPU-z you just posted - though it's a clevo card with a clevo vbios.

so is it safe to say Alienware M17X GTX680M has the worst performance out of all that are currently available?

Well, Frankenstein machining aside, I'm seeing those Combined scores all over the place, but lower than 7970m, Physics scores that don't make sense when using the same cpu and Graphics scores that are always comfortably ahead of the 7970m. In general, what I'd expect, but AW/680m owners might be paddling harder for their rigs than AW/7970m owners as it seems to be a reversal of Clevo & AW designs.

Someone needs to call Scooby and the gang, we have a real mystery on our hands :)

Just got a hold of my r4 with g80m, time to run up a few benchmarks :)

Seems like early days, no drivers from Nvidia yet - only ones i could get to work were the (beta?) Dell driver packages.

I have just purchased a GTX 680M and installed on my M17X R4, I''m surprised that GPU Z shows the memory size is 4GB and clock speed is boostable to 750mhz. Dell''s GTX 680M is only 2gb memory and there is no boost. I''m so happy with my new card

Sir, does it mean that getting a clevo card for upgrade is better than the dell gtx680m card?

I heard that clevo cards has 4gb of vram, it's an advantage isn't it?

    Vbios version 80.04.33.00.10 (Clevo) http://forum.notebookreview.com/att...irst-review-alienware-m17x-gtx-680m-gpu-z.jpg

2GB of vram is more than enough besides it's cheaper through Dell US. (preferred account)
