Hey guys! Some of you may know me from my replacement woes with Alienware, and that I have just recently received the replacement. It's running great and all, except that almost every YouTube or other flash video will crash the display driver at some point.

I am currently running CF 5870s with the latest video and VBIOS drivers, so I'm not sure where this issue could be coming from. The screen will flash black and green, then go back to normal and tell me that the driver crashed and is now working properly again. However, where the flash player was there will be an error saying it has stopped working properly. Looks like a lego block with a sad face.

Anyhoo, any help with this would be greatly appreciated. :)

Did you verify you are running the current version of Flash/reinstall Flash Player?

This should be your first step - if you have confirmed you are running the 8.763 driver and have already flashed to the VBIOS which was rolled out for the 5870s with that driver, then the next step is to focus on flash player itself.

Also, from your signature, you list an external display. Does this happen when not connected to the external?

The external display hasn't arrived yet, so it's just the RGB LED screen at the moment.

Yeh try updating your flash player web browser plugins chiefs.
Try uninstalling them and then reinstalling the latest ones again if you already have done so.

I personally have the latest flash plugins for flash in IE, firefox and other web browsers. I always keep up to date with them.

I also have the K-lite Full codec package installed along with media players such as VLC, GOM and I mainly use Windows media player. Also make sure your fully up to date with windows updates.

    Cheers. :)

    Problem is solved. :D

All I had to do was disable hardware acceleration in the Flash Player settings.

I already had the latest stable versions of Firefox & Flash Player 10.1, it was just that hardware acceleration bit.
