So I recently ordered a 17 with a 1060 in it and the order says I receive a free copy of either FREE copy of "For Honor" OR "Ghost Recon: Wildlands".

How do I redeem this? Do I have to wait until the laptop is delivered?

You should get an email with instructions from the reseller shortly

It can't hurt to send off an email, or call directly, your reseller and ask them. They are the ones that are going to know.

You get a promo to your e-mail within the following 10-15 days.
You can find the redeeming instructions here.

It's one of those things we've seen sooo many people burned on.

They see the promotion from Nvidia. See the promotion images on their vendor site. Order their laptop. Wait.

    And, never get anything.

So then they call the vendor, they say contact Nvidia, Nvidia says contact your reseller, reseller says sorry promo is over we don't have any coupons left, etc etc.

That's why it's good to let your vendor / reseller know of your intent to get that free promo game / whatever when you purchase your laptop - get it in writing, like an email or chat interaction text, and ask what the process is - and ask for updates.

Otherwise you could be sitting out in the cold with nothing.

Always good to interact and get them to make commitments explicitly.

Some of the better vendors / resellers include the free promo game / whatever on the sale order, in that case sit back and relax... for a while, then send an email reminding them you are waiting on fulfillment of your order - the free game :)
