Sorry, I am sure I have read about similar problems to what I am having, but was unable to find the threads.

I received my system yesterday and in the excitement I upgraded the bios from A08 to A09 and installed latest verde video driver.
However, I am experiencing freezes now every hour or so. What happens is I am simply browsing or doing other non demanding tasks (did not install any games yet) when my computer screen freezes and I am unable to see or move mouse cursor and have to hold power button to shut down.

I may have done something wrong when upgrading bios (remember reading about vbios without having a clue what that is :D )
What I did though was download new bios version, and then just push yes and continue wherever I had the option until it installed, and then restarted computer :) pretty much did the same when I updated nvidia driver ..

Essence is, I guess I do not deserve such an awesome system with my complete noobness :)

Hi, dont worry everyone needs to start somewhere. Don't worry about the vbios upgrade as this is for ATI 5870 mobility cards and your setup is nvidia.

I personnal have not had this issue before with mobility drivers but it maybe an idea to back step and remove the updated drivers and reinstall the previous and go into the BIOS by pressing F2 when powered up and check the BIOS version is current.
Use the task manager and hwinfo tool to monitor as it could be a process on the machine.

These are the link i know,

If problem does not resolve and you have just received, contact Alienware ASAP and get them to replace faulty parts or system.

    Hope this helps.
