    Hello all.

First of all thank you all: before I registered I read a lot of the topic about cofee spillage on AW keyboard and they were of great help. Unfortunately I couldn't find all the answers to my questions so here goes.

Two days ago I spilled a copious amount of cofee on my m17x R3. I of course immediately shut it down, unplugged the battery, dried it with a towel and toilet paper and let it dry open face down for about 12 hours. 12 hours after I started it and it booted fine but the keyboard wasnt working properly at all. I plugged a USB keyboard and with a bit of persistence could get my computer to work so I figured I'd deal with the keyboard later. Few hours later the keyboard of the laptop seemed to be working fine save for a few keys which were sending multiple keys insteadof the one I was pressing (for example B also gave me 0 and q... don't ask). I went to bed hoping it'd get better on its own.

So the day after (yesterday am) I wake up and the keyboard wasnt working at ALL. Not wanting to spend my life on the usb keyboard I took off the laptop's keyboard and rinsed it with hot water. I even took a shower with it. Once it was fully rinsed I let it dry on my heater for about 10 hours.

I tried to replug it then and started the computer - after booting the bios gave me 18 bips and sent me to a menu asking if I wanted to start Win 7 or run a memomry diag (win 7 is the only OS on the machine). I tried to press enter to start Win 7 but the keyboard wasnt answering at all! I rebooted and tried witth both the USB keyboard AND the laptop keyboard plugged and I still couldn't get any enter key on either keyboard to work. I figured the lap[top keyboard wasnt dried yet so took it off and proceeded to use my computer with the USB keyboard in the meantime.

Today I tried to plug it again and, although I had no beeps during the bios boot, it still send me to that "do you want to start win7 menu" and I still couldnt press any key on either keyboard once I reached it.

So I took of the laptop keyboad again and am now using it with a USB keyboard (which gives me a great view of the fans of the laptop but that's about the only advantage to it... :( ).

    So here are my questions:
    - Do you think the keyboard is fried?
    - Do you know of any place I can get a new keyboard at? I'm in Europe and my m17x was originally in AZERTY (although I'm fine working with QWERTY) - can I get a US qwerty m17x keyboard or will there be compatibility problems?

    Any help much appreciated.

    Thanks a lot in advance,

    Alex.

Hello. Thanks a lot man! The keyboard ended up reworking but some keys are definitely gone and I broke bit that has the power button (by the way anybody knows the name of that piece? Can't find it on ebay) so I'm definetely going to buy that keyboard thanks.
