Since I own a Alienware m17x-R3. Is it possible to eventually change the GPU [Nvidia 460m] For a Radeon HD6970 ? Or even a Nvidia 485M ? If yes, How hard is it to change it ?

6970 yup. 485 probably not. Easy to upgrade if you can open up a computer.

If you have the 460 right now a 6970 will not work in it because of the 120hz screen.

As far as the 485, well it works inplace of the 460 but the 3d won't work with it. I actually purchased the 485 but failed to get it to work inplace of my 460. Because of the failed install my motherboard crashed and I need a new one. I'm not sure what I did wrong, I followed all the steps the right way.

Why not get the 6970M now? If you just ordered it.

I am from Canada and you CAN get the 6970M. You need to call a sales rep and tell them another rep was able to add it "manually" and "from his side". It cost $300 more than the 6870M and totally worth it. If you do this they will have to cancel your current order and issue a new one. If you just placed your current order I would not think there would be any kind of delay. If you like I can give you my sales rep name and extention just PM me.

Ofcourse you can do that, but it will cost you much more to change / buy / replace with a new GPU. I totally recommend to cancel your order and make a new one with the 6970m. You will not regret it!

I live in Canada as well and I told the guy to add the GPU manually. What is the conf. you ordered?

    intel 2630
    4g ( changing to 8g HyperX )
    radeon hd6970
320G ( instead of 750 of my old order )
    wireless card 6230

    what do you think ?

Yes, good choice. Hdd & memory you can always upgrade later. + it cost you only $250 extra from the 460m to 6970m...

    Best of luck!
