Max TS2 shader goes to 82.5 deg C. I've seen 89 deg C before (on stock paste).

I used prolimatech PK-1, now did I do something wrong or is this the best a repaste can do?

GPU z max on GPU 3 (GPU 3 is what gets the hottest) shows 75 deg C.

So again, did I miss something?

is there a burn in period?

I'm running my cards with MX-4 my temps top @ 74 degrees across all temp sensors but the shader one that usually is 4 - 5 degrees higher than the others, sometimes less, it depends by the game. Both cards the same

Could you tell us the method of placement of the paste?

rice bead like size at the center...and I just slapped the heat sink on.
I did clean everything before reapplying.

Then you did it right. You could look into a better paste - IC Diamond or something - but you're only going to see, maybe, a 2°C improvement.

Paste doesn't affect memory temps or shader temps, that's what thermal pads are for..

(I think, correct me if I'm wrong)

    wrong :)

Mem IO and Shader sensors are on die not on the memory modules, so yes, paste will effect them ;)

yeah memio refers to the memory controller i think, which is on the chip itself.

shader and memio temps tend to be the hottest (at least for me) by around 5*C or so

PK1 is better than ICD7. Its the paste that I recommend when asked

in fact avoid ICD7 on lidless CPUs and GPUs (like our laptop chips) because the diamond particles in it will severely polish the copper heatsink contact and potentially scratch the lidless dies. ICD7 is more meant for desktop CPU's that have metal lids on the dies

There isn't really a burn in period with PK1...you might drop a few degrees, but it isn't much.

To compare, here are my GPu temps after i repasted the GPU. This is during a Vantage run. This is with a 6990 so it is a close comparison but not an apples to apples

perfect Slick!!! I played battlefield for an hour last night and my temps look like the temps you displayed!!

usually the TS2 shader MAX would go up to 84.5 deg C with an hour or more of battlefield 3 (on stock paste).

    :D

    I did it right.

perfect info from slick again :) congratz man, 15C drop in temp is great achievement, also consider book-mod, drops the temps a further 10C for me, BF3 max is 65 right now with the book-mod :)
